Domestic violence support
I began my counseling career working in a domestic violence shelter. That experience shaped everything about how I work with people navigating abuse, trauma, and recovery. This page brings together crisis lines, safety planning tools, shelter finders, and Portuguese-language resources in one place.
If you are in immediate danger, call 911. If you need to talk to someone right now, the National Domestic Violence Hotline is available 24/7 at 1-800-799-7233.

Counseling with Leonice
I work with adults who have experienced domestic violence, whether they are still in the relationship, have recently left, or are years into recovery. Healing is not linear, and there is no single right timeline.
My work in this area is trauma-informed. That means I understand how abuse affects the nervous system, how it shapes patterns of thinking and relating, and how the process of leaving is rarely a single moment. I do not push. I work at your pace.
I offer sessions in English and Portuguese. I am licensed in Massachusetts, Texas, Florida, and Washington. All sessions are via telehealth.
If you are not sure whether therapy is the right next step, a free 15-minute consultation is a low-pressure way to find out.
